(Tax Law)
A benefit for individuals who have become unemployed as a result of increased imports from, or shifts in production to, foreign countries. Employers must apply to the Department of Labor to have their employee group certified as TAA eligible. TAA includes a variety of benefits and re-employment services to help unemployed workers prepare for and obtain suitable employment. Workers may receive assistance in skill assessment, job search workshops, job development/referral and job placement. In addition, workers may be eligible for training, job search allowance, relocation allowance and other reemployment services.
